LED backlighting offers higher performance. Since the individual zones of LEDs can be dimmed or brightened independently, the picture quality is dramatically improved because black levels are higher. In most televisions, accurate blacks are achieved by dimming the whole picture. The problem is you sacrifice overall brightness. By creating a grid comprised of individual zones of LEDs and selectively dimming certain zones based on the image, we deliver deep blacks without sacrificing the lighter areas of your picture.
